Why His Legacy Matters

Sant Bhojalram’s teachings remain deeply relevant in today’s world. His emphasis on truth, simplicity, and social awareness continues to inspire individuals to lead meaningful lives.

For the Savaliya community, he is not just a historical figure but a guiding force whose values shape our identity and direction. Through Bhojalram Savaliya Parivar, we strive to carry forward his message and ensure that his legacy reaches future generations with pride and purpose.

A Moment of Reform

One of the most well-known incidents associated with Sant Bhojalram reflects both his wisdom and his commitment to meaningful reform.

At the time, it was customary for every household to prepare large quantities of lapsi as naivedya to Kuldevi Khodiyar, often using 40–50 kilograms of wheat per family. Due to its nature, this offering could not be preserved or shared widely, leading to significant wastage.

Observing this, Sant Bhojalram proposed a simple yet profound test. In the presence of the entire village, he placed a garbo and a pair of Krishna’s charan paduka into a flowing river, declaring that whichever returned against the current would indicate the path forward.

As the objects drifted with the current, the garbo gradually moved ahead and submerged, while the charan paduka paused, turned, and moved back against the flow toward him.

Taking this as a sign, he advised the community to move away from excessive offerings and instead practice devotion with balance and responsibility, offering only what could be meaningfully used.

This moment became a powerful example of how faith, when guided by awareness, can lead to both spiritual and practical transformation.

His Teachings & Philosophy

Sant Bhojalram’s teachings were simple yet powerful, rooted in truth, awareness, and devotion. He believed that spirituality was not just about rituals, but about understanding life, questioning wrong practices, and living with honesty and compassion.

Through his “Chabkhas,” short poetic compositions that acted as sharp reflections on society, he addressed issues such as hypocrisy, blind faith, and moral weakness. These verses were not meant to comfort, but to awaken, encouraging people to reflect on their actions and align themselves with higher values.

His teachings continue to resonate even today, reminding us that true progress begins with awareness and self-realisation.

His influence is also reflected in cultural and devotional traditions that continue to thrive today. His compositions, such as “Kachbo Kachbi Nu Bhajan,” which was admired by Mahatma Gandhi, and the widely celebrated garba “Halo Ne Kidibai Ni Jan Ma,” remain deeply connected to the spiritual and cultural fabric of society.

These works are often known and performed, yet their origin is not always widely recognised, making it even more important to preserve and share his legacy.
